New Delhi:
Legendary Fleetwood Mac guitarist Jeremy Spencer and his group will enthral music buffs in
the country this month as part of their Heart to Heart concert for the cause of the blind.
Mr. Spencer, who has just been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 1998,
will perform in the capitals Siri Fort auditorium on February 5 after giving a
series of concerts in Mumbai.
Mr. Spencer, who plans to tune A.R. Rehmans Vande Mataram song to his guitar,
says the number is a perfect blend of Indian and western music.
Still considered one of the best slide and blues guitarists in the world, Mr. Spencer
has put together a world-blend dancer-singer group that will deliver a new and explosive
music.
The 21-member troupe includes singer Rachel, vocalists Christy Gibson (Dutch) and Sunny
James (Canadian), guitarists Vas Myers (American) and Mac Nobuka (Japanese), and
synthesizer Mike Creswell (Australian).
The proceeds from the Heart to Heart tour will go to the National Association for the
Blind (NAB).
The musical icon, who is performing in the country for the second time, says he likes
the response of the Indian people.
"I like their depth and the way they look beyond the surface of things," he
says.
The troupe will present music attuned to rap, hip-hop, Spanish dance and reggae during
their three concerts on Jan 24, 30 and Feb 1 and another in the capital.
